In this technological age, people are dependent upon devices they scarcely understand, and with which they cannot bear to part even as these same devices bring them no joy. From out of this dilemma are born various coping mechanisms and rationalizations, with the most radical being the Forms of the New Maintenance, which entails various rituals and procedures believed to imbue the indispensable yet hated objects with guilt and punishment and purification and so forth. One especially intriguing practice among the Forms is known as the Droptimization Process, which entails repeatedly dropping or forcefully slamming a device upon hardened ground, usually inducing breakages and malfunctions from the perspective of disinterested observers. However, from the perspectives of the participants in the Droptimization Process these breakages and malfunctions create new metaphysical spaces in which one's thoughts may run riot, and one's emotions may be expressed without consideration of social conformity pressures to observe decorum and to not let feelings interefere with productivity goals. The devices subjected to the Droptimization Process are, objectively, busted beyond repair, and yet, in the hearts and minds of participants, these broken devices have attained New Voices that may only be heard by the True Droptimizers. As a general disillusionment with contemporary antisocial media, surveillance capitalism, and failed governments spreads across the Earth, Mass Droptimization schemes are aborning which would involve unlocking the secret New Voices contained within aircraft carriers, skyscrapers, cathedrals, the White House, the Vatican, the Kremlin, the Pentagon, that laughable dick-and-balls looking set of government buildings in the putrid Floridian capital of Tallahassee-indeed, we could be looking at a new and unprecedented Age of Total Droptimization on every continent!
